On the Takeover Day, young people from Novoaidar Vocational Agricultural Lyceum visited the Center of Social Services in Novoaidar to try themselves in the profession of a social worker.
Representatives of the Center of Social Services told the young leaders about the algorithm of their work, introduced them to a psychologist, social workers and a specialist of the mobile group, who shared their practical experience.
During this meeting, boys and girls learned more about what social services are, what principles they are based on, the role of a social worker in the community and how to assess the needs of families in need.
“We want to convey to the younger generation that there are different situations in our lives when ordinary people in the community need help. Therefore, each of us should not pass by, but pay attention and provide appropriate support in a difficult situation. This is the role of a social worker,” said Nataliia Mahdych, head of the department for providing social services to families, children and youth.
Takeover Day is an initiative designed to give young people the opportunity to participate in making decisions that concern them. This is a chance for young people to get to know professionals and their daily responsibilities, to be involved and to understand the processes that take place around them.
The event is part of “YOUNG CITIZENS – Community Engagement in East Ukraine” Project, which is implemented by Terre des Hommes Ukraine within the project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine”.
