Young activists from the NGO “Initiative Youth of Ukrainian New York”, who want to make positive changes and solve important problems in their community, visited today the Department of Family, Youth and Mass Events of National-Patriotic Education of the Donetsk Regional State Administration in Kramatorsk.
On the Takeover Day, they met with Oleksii Nazarov, chief specialist of the Department of Youth Policy and Mass Events of National-Patriotic Education, and looked at the entire process of work of the Office from the inside.
“For us, as members of a public organization, it is important to learn how to communicate with local authorities, as well as cooperate with them to create new initiatives,” said one of the participants.
The main approach in the work of the Office is No decision about youth without youth! During the “Takeover Day” young people learned more about the structure of the Office, how to work with documents, what is the Target Program and why it is needed. Mr. Oleksii acquainted young people with the algorithm of patriotic education activities, as well as revealed the secret of how to become a civil servant.
“It is important for us to find such activists who will be able to take part in socio-cultural development, offer new ideas and proposals so that the decisions we make for children and youth are effective,” said Mr. Oleksii.
Takeover Day is an initiative designed to give young people the opportunity to participate in making decisions that concern them. This is a chance for young people to get to know professionals and their daily responsibilities, to be involved and to understand the processes that take place around them.
The event is part of “YOUNG CITIZENS – Community Engagement in East Ukraine” Project, which is implemented by Terre des Hommes Ukraine within the project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine”.
